The mission of The Magellan Network is to provide online products and services that leverage existing technologies to increase restaurant revenue and guest convenience.

Founded in 2006, The Magellan Network (TMN) provides technology-based marketing, sales and management solutions for the restaurant industry. TMN is an Application Service Provider (ASP). The most current versions of all products reside on TMN’s servers and are accessed by users through a web browser. For restaurants, this is an easy and affordable alternative to purchasing expensive, specialized software and/or hardware that must be updated regularly. TMN’s technology solutions increase revenue, save time and reduce costs, allowing restaurant owners and managers to focus on the aspects of their business that they enjoy most – customers and cuisine.

CEO Jeffrey Katz 
TMN is the brainchild of Jeffrey Katz, who in 2001 cofounded Mercury Payment Systems (MPS) to provide added-value payment processing solutions to the restaurant and retail industries. MPS currently is ranked 29th in the Nilson Report’s list of top 100 acquirers of merchant contracts based on its processing volume of more than $9 billion per year. An expert in channel marketing, Katz has 16 years of experience in financial planning and credit card processing. He holds a B.S. degree in accounting from Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY.

Marty Cagan
Cagan is the founder of the Silicon Valley Product Group, which he created to share his executive-level experience and best practices with technology companies. In the past 20 years, he has served as an executive at Hewlett-Packard, Netscape Communications, America Online and eBay. His roles have included product management, software development, product marketing, user interface design, usability engineering, technical writing, software testing and engineering management. Cagan has a B.A. in computer science and applied economics from the University of California at Santa Cruz and is a graduate of the Stanford University Executive Institute.
 
Jim Heffernan
Heffernan has more than 30 years of senior financial management experience in private and public technology companies, making him one of the top executives in the technology sector. Heffernan co-founded USWeb Corporation, which he built to 2,000+ employees and subsequently took public. He is a former financial officer at Measurex (NYSE) and Software Publishing (NASDAQ) and served on the boards of Western Microtechnology Inc. (NASDAQ) and International Microsystems Inc. (NASDAQ). Heffernan also served on the board of XOOM.com and NBCi, where he was the chairman of the audit committee and a member of the compensation and acquisition committee.
